For me, the process of recording a song is like when an artist begins to paint on a canvas. As the Lord leads me to record a song, I have no idea how it will turn out. It's like a blank canvas. As I sit at the keyboard, the choices of instruments to layer with the piano track are too numerous to fathom. However, as the Master Designer, God knows what He is after. So He leads me to each instrument, and gives the arrangement for each instrumental track. Over the course of several hours, if not days, the song is finally completed. Once it's done, I press the "start" button to hear the completed song played back for the first time.
I am amazed at what God has done! He even blesses my heart through the music He has given! :)
As the Shepherd instructed "Much Afraid" in the book Hinds Feet to pick up a stone as a memorial from a lesson He taught her, God usually gives me a song to record as a "memorial" from a lesson He's taught. Therefore, each song becomes an offering of praise to Him for revealing more of Himself to my heart.
As I grow older in my walk with Him, I'm learning that I am not a musician. I am simply the "brush" in His hands. Anything of eternal value that He does through my life is like a final arrangement ~ it has been created by and through His power and wisdom, not mine.
Without Him, I can do nothing.
John 15:5
To God be the glory!
